Time is a gift that all of us have been given and we will only be able to completely unveil its beauty when rightly positioned to receive it. Time is my word for this year. There are 888 scriptures that reference time in the bible. Today as I envision the path for the coming year unfolding for His Whole House, time is key to each and every project, event, or course. We are a compact team, each on a journey to learn how to make the most of the time given to us. The plans of the Father are far outreaching our human efforts, and yet His mission is clear and strong - build.
Here are a few of the steps I’ve been taking in relation to time. First, asking my Heavenly Father what my assignments are for the day. Knowing there is a schedule and plans have been set but first – giving all those to the King for His review and possible rearrangement. In doing this today, I was impressed with the thought, “everything will shift” and sure enough while I was listening, the phone rang and those changes unrolled out before my eyes. Here’s the verse which matched my heart as these changes occurred this morning.
Rom. 11:5 “Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.”
The elements of grace present showered down all morning over the house. Grace with Grace, who is my 83-year-old ward living with me and in need of continuous care. The ease of change, cooperation, and quietness from the usual phone calls, emails, and daily demands of keeping a household brooded over the atmosphere - amazing! A dispensation came right in the middle of the shift. One of the meanings of dispensation is special permission to do something that is not usually allowed or legal.
While there is nothing illegal happening here, there has, however, been a fragrant bouquet of grace over each task of the day. With each shift, as I’ve stepped up into it (rather than resisting), time has expanded. Setting other duties aside can sometimes have very negative consequences, but again, as I weigh each task and duty against the odds of losing out on the joy of how our King will pull this off – it’s no contest.
Rom. 8:18 "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed toward us.”
As I walk out this position of receiving the gift of time, there has been an increase in the ways it's opening things up for or to me, like asking for help or being willing for another to get the best of what we have to give in an unplanned moment of need.
Lastly, I’m gaining a deeper heart knowledge of this verse below and learning to hold lightly to what is to be the priority of the day, and sometimes the hour.
I Cor. 4:5 “Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each man will get his praise from God.”
