Where there is no further discussion or curiosity, our mindset sets like cement, with a viewpoint solidified.
So, it was in the days of Christ, as John 6 tells us. Jesus was calling for those who had seen His miracles of the loaves and fishes to look past the outcome of being fed and to see who He really was among them. The Son of God, a diverse, engaging man, embracing of sinners, and seemingly defiant of Jewish traditions at times.
How could the believers of Jesus' day hope to see the Father to whom Jesus kept referring? The people sought guidance and an answer to their longing, but without another miracle, the question remained: could they see the Christ sitting there right in their midst? Verse 66 tells us the story… “As a result of this, many of His disciples left, and would no longer walk with Him…”
How narrow-minded you may say, how prejudiced. But aren’t we easily the same? Fixating on a particular way that sparks our current understanding of how things are now? Unbending in our internal nature and dismissive of something or someone that doesn’t quite resonate with our current understanding.
As each of us leans into that pursuit — not pushing God away but drawing closer — let’s gain more trust in His timing, in the ways to accomplish a task, or in connecting with a new or old friend. All this adds renewed welcome to our desire in knowing Him more closely.
There is the hidden treasure of true relationship, within us, with others, and with God. His candid desire is to walk and talk more and more in relatable partnership with us.

God calls His flavor of wisdom like a ‘hidden treasure’, Proverbs 2:4.
Join me this week in giving more space to stay curious as a ‘posture’ in partnership with God. In these days of endless information, consider how God is asking you to tune in to His presence and spread His love light in unusual ways. In the middle of your daily situations and relationships, where could you look to make or see a new way to connect?

It may come as a place to reunite with an old friend, a relocation of your home, a blessing to another amid a busy day, or an unusual approach to a long-term decision.
